Put your Unit on the MAP with… BeAScout

What is BeAScout ?

Allows parents and volunteers to find Packs, Troops, and Crews in a particular neighborhood and obtain information about Scouting opportunities. For BeAScout information to be effective, Unit Leaders need to understand their role in the process. This document explains the steps for the Unit Leaders to follow to keep their Unit information current.

Click on this link to check out BeAScout.

Who are the "Unit Leaders" in BeAScout ?

Unit leaders are Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, or Crew Advisor along with the Unit Committee Chairperson and the Chartered Organization Representative.

What is the Unit Leaders Role in BeAScout ?

The role of the Unit leaders is to populate their unit pin. This will allow useful and pertinent information about their unit to display on the Google map. Unit Leaders also manage Leads that come to their unit.

How do the Unit Leaders Update and Keep their Unit information current?

Unit Leaders log into their My Scouting Account, then

  1. select Unit Tools and
  2. selectBeAScout on the left.
  3. select  Unit Pin Management

At the bottom left is the “Fields Displayed on Google Pin” area. Unit leaders must select Contact Person before assigning a unit contact. Check other boxes you wish to appear on the pin. The Pin preview box will only display the information that the unit leader selects in this box. At the bottom right in the box outlined in red is a preview of the Google pin. This is what the parent will see.

How Do I learn more about the Unit Leaders Role in BeAScout?

Contact the Council Service Center for more information.
