The Heart of Ohio Council is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Good News Contest for 2012. Let’s show the communities that Scouting is alive and well! Last year more than 200 articles were printed council wide.
We are looking once again for pictures and stories about Scouting that appear in your local newspapers. It’s simple and here is how it works:
1. Units are encouraged to submit stories and pictures to your local newspapers. Send in pictures, announcements, recognition, etc. Our local papers are looking for local news!
2. When the story is published, mail an ORIGINAL, HARD COPY OF THE ARTICLE (copies will not be accepted), along with the page mast that shows the date and publications name to the Council Service Center. (Make sure your unit number is on the back).
3. At the end of the year the unit that has the most inch spaces of coverage will receive a gift certificate for $300 that can used at the Heart of Ohio Council, Ashland Scout Shop, Marion Scout Shop, and the Firelands Scout Store. Second place will receive a $200 gift certificate and 3rd place will receive a $100 gift certificate.
4. All articles must have been published in a local newspaper between January 1 and December 31, 2012.
5. Winning units will be announced in January 2013.
6. The decision of the judges will be final.
7. Articles will be displayed in the lobby of the Council Service Center.
8. All submissions will become the property of the Heart of Ohio Council.
