2017 National Jamboree

The Heart of Ohio Council invites its YOUTH to experience the

2017 NATIONAL JAMBOREE

Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve
Mount Hope, West Virginia
July 19-28, 2017

We are extremely excited for the 10 days of adventure, achievement, and outdoor action sports that await us in July 2017 at the world-class facilities of The Summit – but getting there is half the fun!  We are also planning several team-building activities, including a COPE weekend at Firelands Scout Reservation. Heart of Ohio Council Contingent spots are limited, get your registration in today.

Since the first National Scout Jamboree was held in the summer of 1937 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the jamboree has become Scouting’s flagship event. In the summer of 2013, the Summit Bechtel Family Reserve (SBR) welcomed Scouts to a whole new jamboree experience with world-class facilities and a focus on outdoor action sports. SBR, meanwhile, is a permanent jamboree home, meaning the BSA got to build the ultimate playground for Scouts and Venturers. I’m talking 5 miles of zip lines and challenge courses, 36 miles of mountain bike trails, 13 acres of shooting sports ranges, kayaking, rock climbing, bouldering, skateboarding, BMX and so much more. In 2017, SBR and the jamboree will be even better. The 2017 National Scout Jamboree will take place July 19 - 28, 2017 at the Summit in the New River Gorge area of West Virginia and REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN. We hope to take two Troops of 36 Scouts each and one Venturing Crew.

The council fee for the National Jamboree is $1550 and will be due in installments of $100 per month, due on the 1st of each month from April 2016 until May 2017, and a final payment of $150 due June 1, 2017.  In addition to participation at the Jamboree, this fee will cover all transportation, all meals, a 115L duffel, team-building activities like our COPE weekend, and other materials. Please open the Payment Instructions file (pdf) at the bottom of this page.
